DEAN SMITH

Currently a Senior Preparator at the Melbourne Museum and director of Environmental Creations, has over 30 years’ experience in the production of natural history displays. Dean was mentored in the museum environment by staff whose experience and skills span centuries.

These skills include traditional taxidermy techniques, model making, moulding and copy casting, as well as completing fine detail finishes in a vast array of mediums. Dean has trained museum staff in Victoria, and interstate. His competence in providing professional presentations and training programs is highly regarded.

EWIN WOOD

Be it building scale models of insects, painting detailed plant mimics, restoring a room full of bird mounts, or articulating dinosaurs, Ewin Wood applies his trade in a tribute to our natural world.

An early career working as a preparator for the Museum of Victoria, he developed his craft in exhibition production involving rich collaborations with curators, scientists, designers, carpenters and technicians.

Ewin established his business, Natural History Productions, in 2008, managing large exhibition projects and one-off items. He supplies a broad clientele with a myriad of museum quality natural history displays and exhibits.
